Depending on the overall effect you want, golden to carmel color highlights would do very well on your color hair. If you want something a little (or a lot more) dramatic chunky highlights in the top box section of your hair are really cool looking.

I use Loreal with the brush in highlights, which has always worked well for me. I have dirty blonde hair which I dye blonder and then brush in the highlights with the wand and I'm sure it would work for brown hair too as they have many options (although sorry I'm not sure about lowlights). And pick a friend who is good with hair or it could potentially be a disaster. good luck.

Hey there I am a hairstylist and my advice to you is....... if you like your hair then do not do it yourself! The odds of you getting the color on long and layered hair quickly enough and evenly applied are kinda high. When you go to a salon you are not paying for the color but your paying for our experience and skills. I charge more to fix a messed up color that i do to do that color myself. One more word of advice go to the salons and ask questions in person that way you have a better idea of the work they do and you can see what the are like. Over the phone we all sound like super colorists. Take the time to check out salons in person. If you were in Wisconsin i would be more help. Good luck.

I've always mixed lemon juice and water in a spray bottle. get your hair wet when you are in the sun (at the pool/lake), out in some conditioner and then spray the lemon juice/water mixture through your hair and comb through. The sun activates the lemon juice and it will make your hair lighter. AND it looks natural!

My hair is naturally black and I highlighted it two years ago. This past week I went to a different hair dresser and she used bleach. I went with a caramel brown, but I regret it. When the hairdresser rinsed my hair and I saw the results it looked fine. When she dried my hair the highlights got lighter and lighter. It kind of looks like a dark blonde. It doesn't go well my with skin tone and I was wondering if going back to black would damage my hair. GO TO THE SALON AND HAE A PRO DO IT!!! color (especially the extere dark brown to blondish) have very unpredictable results... i know this, because ive done it and always had to have it corrected by a pro...

as far as someone in la??? well, not sure... ask around or call... ask to speak with the colorist... and when you go, maybe bring a pix... so she is sure, but everytime i go to the pro, now, they get it perfect... and make sure she/he writes down what was done with your hair if your happy with the results...(going to a pro, you will be!!) this way you can get the same results everytime!!! First off to get dark hair a lighter color it has to be bleached out then colored the color you want. If you have damaged hair I would not (as a cosmetologist recommend doing any more damage to it just now.) Give it some time, condition it and go to a professional to get it lightened and high lighted.

Notice that anyone you see on tv with the color hair you are looking for has to wear extensions. You would need a stripper and lots of bleach which would be horrible on your hair. If a stylist would agree to do this to you with your hair being colored too many times they are just after your money. Its not impossible im sure but you will barely be able to run a comb through your hair. By the way look at the color of honey it is orange. You cant prevent someones hair from turning color. Most people dont care enough to use professional products and follow directions. Let your hair grow out natural cut off the color and then go have someone dye your hair. You will be much happier with the results and you will still have hair.

If your problem is that your hair turns orange, you can always get a wash-in wash-out toner like Roux's "Fanci-Full" color styling mouse. This will add colours to your hair to cancel out the reddish hues, without causing any more damage to your hair!

Pretty much all blonde shades will eventually turn more orange and need to be touched-up, by the way. Some more than others of course, but it's a pretty universal issue.

red turns to brown, and colors are heat activated as werid as that sounds, lol in the sun it does seem lighter colors

when you pick out a shade pick one out that is like 2 shades darker than what you want it to be because the sun will make it lighter within 2 weeks.

be sure you condition it, and if it's dye put in some oil.

and get trims quite a while because the bleaching and the dying will bring forth split ends

Your stylist should have washed it after getting your highlights done. You can wash it any time after you get it done. Only with perms you have to wait before washing it, or with red dye since it fades faster.

Well i haven't got any picture to show you but i think you're right by wanting to keep any colour changes as close to your natural hair colour as possible. Only go one or two shades lighter. Another good way to avoid obvious roots is to get thin highlights this makes it look more natural as well as it adds movement to your hair making it look healthy.

You should ask your hairdresser for their opinion as they will be able to tell you exactly what would suit you and be best for you to do.

well... even though what the other person said about being natural and healthy blah blah is all very nice, most people like changing their hair, right? spicing things up? going for a different look. anyways, the way you described your skin tone and eyes, you can pull off a lot of different colors without looking fake. i think you would be able to pull off an strawberry blonde color 100% [as long as your eyebrows aren't too dark].

good highlights would definitely be blond. don't overdo it, use a dirty blond color. don't use too much or it will look too fake. another cool idea would be different shades of brown, especially darker ones. trust me, you'll look great.

Then for the finishing touch spray a shine spray all over.

wash it whenever you wish to. Just make sure you dry it, we to do double the work! It will not do anything to your highlight, your stylist is going to wash it after the service too. We like working on clean hair, and its easier to foil a clean head of hair as oppose to dirty hair.

Yes, and you can do this yourself or have someone help you if you want, go and get a highlighting kit at walmart (Loreal) it has a little brush and instructions on how to mix very easy then after mixing, brush this onto you roots while your hair is dry. Brush on the outside of you hair where you want the highlights to be, start from the root and blend into the the other older highlights, be careful not to get this on too thick, leave this on for thirty minutes then wash your hair and the root problem will be gone and you will probably be able to wait awhile to have you hair done professionally, it will look pretty good. Since your hair is dirty blond anyhow, this will work on your hair great. I hope this helps

I would go with a brighter blond or like a carmal color, but your hairstyles will help ya out, I think they know best. When I get mine done I pretty much let her pick the color, shes my friend and I trust her, but I always love it.

Darker...dark lowlights. But i think some really light, bleach blonde pieces would look amazing. Maybe mix it up. Some really light and some really dark is a nice contrast. The dark will make the light look really blonde.
